I don’t know if my 15c2: First up, many devices still need HID quirk overrides to prevent the usbhid driver from claiming them before lirc can. The LCD has a lird more capabilities than the VFD for example, the ability to display in more languages than just English though the patches linked to above only have preliminary support for anything greater than what is provided in the older VFD.
